Welcome to my reflective journal for A level Photography
I have chose the portraiture genre to do at A2. This is largely due to the fact that I did some last year and really enjoyed it; I also had some really successful and interesting images. Another aspect that has influenced my decision on genre; is largely due to a photographer called Joseph Mackenzie and one of his photos called Tolsta Head. The Photo shows, in the foreground, a silhouette of a man sitting on a rock on a beach at Tolsta Head. In the Background we see an overcast sky with a rough sea. This really captured my imagination and brought back memories from my childhood growing up on a small Island (1.5 miles long by 0.5 mile wide) called Herm in the channel islands. This is due to how I spent most of my time on the beach and many happy; spring, summer, autumn and winters days and some of the winters overcast days with its deep green sea were more magical and powerful that the hot summers days.
